MAJOR RUMOR: Facebook Filing IPO Docs Wednesday

![][1]Rumor has it Facebook may submitting paperwork on Wednesday to register Facebook for an initial public offer. We are updating this post in real time, so be sure to hit hard refresh for updates.

_[The Wall Street Journa][2]l_ first reported this rumor suggesting that the social network would have the ticker FBOOK, that Morgan Stanley might lead the underwriting and Goldman Sachs might play a major role.

We've yet to see any solid confirmation of this rumor by any source on the record or off, and we've also asked Facebook whether it can confirm or deny what the Journal is saying.

This latest rumor jibes with another one we'd reported earlier this week about a [three-day halt][3] in processing trades of Facebook's private shares that began this Wednesday. The law firm that handles these transactions, [Fenwick & West LLC][4], never responded to our request for comment when the news broke on Tuesday. Contacts at both SharesPost and SecondMarket, where the stock trades privately, declined to comment that day. We've asked all of them via email if they could comment on the latest rumor.
