Facebook Timeline For Pages Debuts On NBC’s ‘Today’

[![][1]][2]Why use a press release, a blog post, or even the Facebook Marketing Conference in New York later today to introduce [timeline for pages][3], when doing it on NBC's _Today_ is an option?

Facebook used the morning news show to debut its new pages for brands, and one of the first to launch was, unsurprisingly, the page for [_Today_][4].

Highlights of the new _Today_ Facebook page -- which took advantage of its early access to timeline to fully exploit the new design's ability to back-date content -- include:

Photos and a link to video of the first-ever broadcast of _Today_ [Jan. 14, 1952][5].

A photo of the debut of chimpanzee anchor J. Fred Muggs [Feb. 3, 1953][6].

Photos from the 1981 royal wedding of [Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer][7], as well as the more recent nuptials of [Prince William and Kate Middleton][8].

Matt Lauer's [2005 interview with Tom Cruise][9] about his then-new relationship with Katie Holmes and Scientology.

Ann Curry's [2007 trip to the South Pole][10].

Al Roker [learning how to luge][11] [][11]at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy.

Natalie Morales [hang-gliding in Brazil][12] last year.
